Day 4 of my Raw Vegan Diet

My Momma always said that veggies were good for me...

Last night I tried to make a smoothie made of all vegetables. Well this seems like an easy thing to do...mix various fresh produce and make something that tastes amazing...after all smoothies are delicious ...are they not? Umm..
I had this wise friend that once told me..." Don't try and mix too many things together at once...it won't taste very good". She was very smart..I should have listened to her advice...However I didn't and I made this concoction.

3 beautiful red tomatoes
1 carrot
1 green onion
1/2 a small cucumber
hand full of lettuce
Salt
cayenne pepper

I had all I could do to drink this and keep it down. I think I went wrong with the green onion.
I am going to stick with a basic Tomato Soup Smoothie recipe....It is much better.

I am realizing that in the evenings I don't have very much time to blog, so I am going to sometimes blog a day behind.

Yesterday ..which was my day 4..
For breakfast and lunch I had a smoothie;

1 apple
1 banana
2 pineapple spears
1/4 cucumber
hand full of kale
1/2 a scoop of vegan vitamin supplement powder

For snack I had a salad of red and green pepper, red onion, tomatoes and cucumber.
..and for evening snack I had seeds and nuts mixed together. Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashews and peanuts. ( I didn't eat very many peanuts because of all the nuts they seem the most acidic for our body..but I still like to have a few mixed in there).

Yesterday I felt sick most of the day after I ate the yucky veggie smoothie , but I felt fine before that. I have been drinking lots of water throughout the day and have been going to the bathroom frequently. I still haven't had any coffee cravings...which is good. Warm water with lemon in a mug seems to satisfy my physical enjoyment of the coffee drinking experience. and as for the caffeine..I was reading on a naturopathic site yesterday
It was funny to read the Chocolate craving part because I usually always crave chocolate...and I have't since I started eating lots of veg and fruit and seeds and nuts. I thought it was an interesting site. I am happy that my usual cravings are gone...and I am not hungry at all..I am totally satisfied! Well except for that veggie shake of doom..it was awful! lol...

I picked up my new Champion Juicer! I even dared to try it out. : ) I made apple juice first.. and I have to say that I have never, in my life, had better apple juice.... ever! I also juiced a honey dew melon, and pineapple spears. I wasn't very daring on my first try with the juicer, but I am sure in the days to come I will become more brave and try many new things!

Yesterday I fell away from my all raw diet a bit, not that it was because of temptation or cravings... It was because I didn't want to hurt my mothers feelings after she had made a cooked, but nice breakfast for me. I realized that I should make it clear to everyone in my house hold that I am eating differently now. She knew I was trying "raw eating", but didn't realize it was ALL raw.... yes mom..I am trying ALL Raw! lol
Anyhoo...I am back on track today. I started with a smoothie this morning.

Breakfast and lunch Smoothie;
2 apples
1 banana
2 pinapple spears
1/4 of a cucumber
small hand full of kale
1/2 a scoop of vegan supplement Vitamin powder

* It is green but yummy!!

For snack I had mixed nuts and seeds
I am trying warm water with a lemon wedge instead of coffee
and I have been drinking water

For Din I am trying warm tomato soup that my Sweetie made me.

I have been spending lots of time reading, and searching for recipes on the web today. I have been writing them down...saving them for later...hehee
I realize now, that in order to really do this properly, I am going to have to get a food dehydrator as well. Now that I have seen what I can make..I am even more excited about eating this way. I know that it is going to have to be a long term lifestyle change..and one that my body is absolutely in need of.

I am feeling pretty good still, and I haven't had any headaches from avoiding the coffee.
Have a Rawsome day!

Starting my Raw Diet

Ok, so after much reading, talking to hardcore Raw Vegans, researching, and pondering, I have finally made the commitment to start my Raw Diet. It is something that keeps presenting itself into my life, from various sources, and I am starting to see that the universe is trying really hard to convince me to try it. So after many months of trying to turn a blind eye to the obvious ( jumping up and down screaming) solution to health and wellness. I am here to say, "Alright, I will try it!"

My very good friend has been blogging on here for years. She has tried on different occasions to get me into the blogging scene, but I never felt that I had anything to blogg about. It seemed unnecessary, and at the very least I would have a difficult time deciding between all of my interests. I suppose, at the time I was just not ready, but now seems to be the perfect time. I feel like it will be the perfect way to help with daily dicipline...After all I will not be very willing to admit that I tried to juice a Chewy chips Ahoy!!! It also helps to keep track of my progress.
So far today I have kept on track, it has been very pleasant and easy. I am sure it will not remain this way for too long...lol. I am excited and happy, and I feel great!

I started my day out with a smoothie;
1 apple
1 banana
1 pinapple spear
small piece of cucumber
kale
and a half a scoop of a Vegan Vitamin powder
with a small handfull of ice

For lunch I had a salad made of;
cucumber, tomatoe, red pepper, green pepper, and red onion

For snack had a smoothie;
1 apple
1 banana
frozen blueberries
kale

For dinner I will have a salad made of;
brocolli and cauliflower
Red peppers

For snack I will have another smoothie

I have been drinking lots of purified water throughout the day, and I was able to stay away from coffee( which I know will become a problem as the days pass).

I am going tonight to get my champion juicer. I found one on craigslist for $75. It is fairly new and in good shape..Yey!! I have been waiting a while to get one, but it is finially close at hand!
On the way home I will be getting some nice fresh friut to juice tonight..so I am sure tomorrow I will be adding to my food intake for today....and reporting on my juicing adventures...

Have a great day" )
